Despite the fact that metal stars would officially replace embroidered ones only in 1854 many cavaliers privately commissioned more comfortable (and beautiful) silver stars long before 1854.

This one obviously belong to the 1831-1854 time period.

Pisani Paul (1786-1873) was a state counselor to the Emperor of Russia and director of the diplomatic chancellery of Russia in Constantinople. 1st/2nd class Order of Saint Vladimir. Gold, enamel. Size 48 mm. Marked IP for Immanuel Pannasch workshop.
