Wunder Brothers button factory /пуговичная фабрика Братья Вундер/ was founded in 1875 in St. Petersburg by Alexander Ivanovich Wunder /Александр Иванович Вундер/ as a sole proprietorship. It was located on Vasilievsky Island at 22 13th Line. In 1882, after the death of the factory's founder, his widow, Louise Gustavovna Wunder, inherited the business. Since 188, she managed the company jointly with her second husband, Ludwig (Ivan Leontievich) Zelling /Людвиг (Иван Леонтьевич) Зеллинг/, a 2nd guild merchant. In 1903, the enterprise was transformed into a trading house (general partnership). Since 1908, the founder's son, 2nd guild merchant Alexander Alexandrovich Wunder /Александр Александрович Вундер/, took part in the management of the factory.
In 1913, after the death of I.L. Zelling, the company was headed by A.A. Wunder. The factory specialized in the production of uniform buttons, civil and military insignia, orders and medals, and bladed weapons. The company employed approximately 60 people. Production volume was approximately 60,000 rubles per year.
