How strange the fate of some fakes is! Second cross was sold with a phantasy attribution "bestowed upon Field Marshal Ferdinand Peter Hennequin, Count of Fresnel and Curel" in 1814 and proudly entered the collection of Tallinn Museum of Orders of Knighthood. But further more - Moscow Kremlin Museum published this cross together with a phantasy attribution in its catalogue as a 100% original artefact.

All this gives you clear idea how easily these days fake could be "legalized" and "certificated" by the museum diletants.
