St.George orders (and other awards) of General Mikhail Dmitriyevich Skobelev

Beautifully executed 2nd class badge.

Gold, enamel.
Size: 53 x 53 mm (with an eyelet - 53 x 60 mm).

Allegedly all awards were kept in the Skobelev's tomb in the village Zaborovskie Gai.

Fine painting of central medallion.

 

Another 2nd (or 3rd) class badge from the same tomb.

Gold, enamel.
Size: 50 x 50 mm (with an eyelet - 55 x 50 mm).

Gold. Size 57 х 57 mm.

All badges currently in the collection of The Ryazan Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve.

 

But we will not find these badges at the famous photo of general.

 

We won't find them in his other photos either.

Interestingly in different photos he has different 4th class St.George cross (note how the size and form of his 4th class St.George changes from photo to photo).
