Georgy Georgievich Emmanuel (Георгий Георгиевич Эммануэль; 1815 - 1868) was born on July 8 (20), 1815 and descended from the nobility of the Kiev province, the son of the famous hero of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the ruler of the Caucasus region, cavalry general Georgy Arsenyevich Emmanuel. He received his education in a private educational institution and on June 15, 1830 he entered military service as a non-commissioned officer in the Kabardian Infantry Regiment. Here he soon had to take part in cases against the highlanders. This gave him a wide opportunity to distinguish himself, and on April 25, 1831, he was promoted to ensign for his bravery. In the same year, during the capture of the fortified village of Kazi-Muly-Aktan-Lukh, he was dangerously wounded in his right leg and for the courage and courage shown in this battle, he was awarded the Order of St. Anna 3rd class with a bow. The wound he received during the aforementioned battle turned out to be very serious, so that at the beginning of 1833 he forced him to leave the line and be expelled from the army. At the same time, he was assigned a pension from disabled capital at 550 rubles in banknotes per year.

Having recovered from his wound, Emmanuel decided to continue his service in the cavalry and, of his own free will, was transferred first to the Kargopol Dragoon Regiment, and on June 6, 1835, to the cuirassier regiment of Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna.

Promoted to captain on June 7, 1838, he was subsequently appointed as a corrective adjutant under the commander of the 2nd reserve cavalry corps, and on October 31, 1845 he was promoted to major and in 1847 was awarded the Order of St. Anna 2nd class.

In 1849, Emmanuel took part with honors in the Hungarian campaign and was awarded the Imperial crown to the Order of St. Anne, 2nd class. In 1850, Emmanuel was appointed adjutant to the commander of the 4th Infantry Corps, General Cheodaev, and on September 28 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel.

Transferred on February 2, 1852 to the cuirassier regiment of the Military Order, in March of the same year he was seconded to the Exemplary Cavalry Regiment, with which he stayed for about a year, and on May 18, 1854 he was again transferred to the cuirassier regiment of Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna, in which he remained until before his appointment as commander of the cuirassier Military Order of the personnel regiment, and on November 26, 1855, he was awarded the Order of St. George 4th class for impeccable service of 25 years in officer ranks (Cross No. 9718). Promoted to colonel in 1857.

Appointed in the same year, on December 8, as commander of the cuirassier Military Order of the regiment, Emmanuel commanded this regiment until joining the Finnish Dragoon Regiment in 1860, when he was appointed commander of the 2nd Life Hussar Pavlograd Regiment. Then he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir, 3rd class.

With the outbreak of the Polish uprising in 1863, a new kind of activity began for Emmanuel. Appointed first as the correcting post of the private military chief of the Pultusk district of the Plock province , and then to the same position in the Mariampol district of the former Augustow province, he energetically set about suppressing the uprising and for the differences shown in this field, was promoted to major general on November 3, 1863 (with seniority from May 10) and was appointed to consist of army cavalry and troops in the Kingdom of Poland. A few days later, he received a new appointment as junior assistant to the head of the 1st Cavalry Division., and, in addition to this position, he was soon appointed, first, a temporary member of the special committee on the arrangement and formation of troops in matters relating to cavalry, and then a member of the Main Committee on the arrangement and formation of troops.

The last awards of Emmanuel were: the Greek Order of the Savior (1864) and the Russian orders of St. Stanislav 1st class (1864) and St. Anna 1st class with swords (1867).

Emmanuel's health undermined by his service in the Caucasus was deteriorating and forced him to leave military service in early 1868 for treatment. On February 11 of the same year, he was enlisted in the army cavalry and in the reserve troops, but it was too late. His strength was completely undermined, and despite the efforts of the doctors, he could no longer recover. Emmanuel died in Geneva on November 10, 1868, at the age of 54 from gangrene. He was buried in St. Petersburg, at the Volkovo Orthodox Cemetery.
