Giuseppe Gerbaix de Sonnaz (Cuneo , September 30, 1828 - Rome, April 8, 1905 ) was an Italian general and politician. Born in Cuneo in 1828 Giuseppe De Sonnaz had begun to fight at the age of twenty in Mortara and in Novara as his father 's aide-de-camp. Then he fought in the Crimea then in the Marches and in the Umbria. Having risen to the rank of army corps commander he was elected as senator and dedicate himself to the patriotic education. The grandiose national pilgrimage to the Pantheon in 1903 was promoted, organized and led by him. He died on April 8, 1905 in Rome .​
