Award certificate for Vice-Admiral De Fauque de Jonqières, dated December 28, 1915, with embossed seal and original signature of Emperor Nikolai II with a draft letter of thanks from the recipient in French, and part of an envelope.

 

Eugène de Fauque de Jonquières /June 24, 1850; July 24, 1919/ was a French admiral, poet and designer. He was a son of Ernest de Jonquières, French admiral, mathematician and man of letters, grand officer of the Legion of Honor, member of the Academy of Sciences (1884). In 1867 he graduated from the Naval Academy. He was naval attaché in Berlin in 1906. He became commander in chief of the Mediterranean squadron in 1909. In 1911 he was ambassador extraordinary at the coronation of King George V. In June 1915 he was appointed Chief of General Staff of the Navy.
