Established in three classes as award for special military merit. It could be awarded to all military ranks.

1st class "gilded cross" (awarding was accompanied with 200 yuans payment)
2nd class "silvered cross" (100 yuans payment)
3rd class "blackened cross" (50 yuans payment)

Badge was worn on the left side of the tunic.
