Photo has presentation inscription to Paul Labbe (1867-1943) - French traveler, geographer, ethnographer, linguist. Being fluent in Russian, he visited Siberia, Turkestan, Kazakhstan, Sakhalin, as well as neighboring Mongolia and Manchuria. Later, P. Labbé served as Secretary General of the Paris Society of Commercial Geography (1905-1919) and the French Alliance (1919-1935). In 1924 he became commander of the Order of the Legion of Honor. As a result of his travels, he wrote five books about Russia. Largely thanks to him, the geography of Asian Russia became well known in France and in Europe as a whole.

Eikichi Shinra with Russian Medal for Zeal.jpg

At first glance, this is just another wedding group photo filled with standard sets of awards. But bride's father Eikichi Shinra /新良榮吉/ who served at Osaka Artillery Arsenal during 1900s and 1910s makes this photo a very special one. Firstly, he is wearing a two-row medal bar (it's not that common https://asiamedals.info/threads/multi-row-japanese-medal-bars.24617/). Secondly, he is violating rules of wear at least thrice https://asiamedals.info/threads/rul...se-imperial-awards-and-their-violators.24284/. But the real gem is his neck medal.

1st row. 6th class Rising Sun order, 7th class /or 8th class/ Sacred Treasure, Showa Enthronement Commemorative Medal, 1914-15 /or 1914-20/ War Medal, Russo-Japanese War Medal.

2nd row. Taisho Enthronement Commemorative Medal, 1894-95 Sino-Japanese War Medal, 1900 China War (Boxer Rebellion) Medal, Red Cross Membership Medal.

Around his neck he is wearing Imperial Russian Medal for Zeal /reign of Nicholas II/ in silver and on the Saint Stanislaus order ribbon. Most likely WW1 allied awarding made in connection with his work at Osaka Arsenal.
