Vasily Alexandrovich Merkushov (December 8 , 1884 , Sevastopol - December 4, 1949 , Paris) was a Russian submarine officer, Captain 1st rank , participant in the First World War, writer. One of the first submarine officers he became famous as the commander of the Okun /Окунь/ submarine. During the Russian Civil War he was a member of the White movement Volunteer Army. He lived and died in France, was repeatedly published in émigré publications, and left memoirs.
