50th Anniversary of Zemstvo (local governments) Commemorative Badges made by workshop of Brothers Bukh /Ф.Г./

The button factory "Brothers Bukh" was founded by the Bukh brothers in St. Petersburg in 1816 and was located on 4th Line, Vasilyevsky Island. In 1829, the St. Petersburg factory was owned by the merchants Transhel and Bukh. A report on the 1833 St. Petersburg exhibition mentions both merchants as the factory's owners, while a report on the 1843 Moscow exhibition mentions only the Bukh brothers, without Transhel. In 1890, the enterprise passed to Friedrich Karlovich Gutheil, a second-guild merchant and hereditary honorary citizen of manufactories and adviser. He provided funding, and in 1890-1891, a four-story apartment building and a factory building for button production were built on Vasilyevsky Island at 20, 5th Line. On November 9, 1892, together with his wife, Wilhelmina Julia Maria Gutheil, he registered the trading house (general partnership) "Bukh bro. - factory and trade in metal buttons" with a capital of 10 thousand rubles. F. Gutheil lived at the factory together with his wife, son, and daughter.
