Matakichiro Hashimoto (December 15, 1866 - June 3, 1928) was a Japanese Navy officer, his final rank is Rear Admiral. He was born on January 31, 1866 in Danbara Village, Aki District , Aki Province (currently Danbara, Minami Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture ). Second son of Masatatsu Hashimoto. On December 10, 1886 he graduated from the Naval Academy (13th class) and on September 24, 1888 he entered service as a naval ensign. In 1898 he became Lieutenant Commander . In May 1899 he went on a business trip to France as a member of the Azuma Navigation Committee and returned to Japan in October 1900 as Commander of Japanese cruiser Azuma.​

In 1901 he was promoted to Commander and in the following year he was appointed Chief Navigator /航海長/ of the battleship Fuji. Fuji /富士/ was the lead ship of the Fuji class of pre-dreadnought battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy by the British firm of Thames Iron Works in the late 1890s. The ship participated in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905, including the Battle of Port Arthur on the second day of the war with her sister Yashima. Fuji fought in the Battles of the Yellow Sea and Tsushima and was lightly damaged in the latter action. The ship was reclassified as a coastal defence ship in 1910 and served as a training ship for the rest of her career. She was hulked in 1922 and finally broken up for scrap in 1948.​

In 1906 Hashimoto Matakichiro was promoted to Captain and served as captain of the cruiser Akashi . In 1911 he became the captain of cruiser Iwate and then cruiser Tsukuba. In 1912 he served as Yokosuka Port Director and in the same year became Maizuru Port Director. He was promoted to Rear Admiral on March 31, 1914. Retired from service on December 15, 1922. From 1921 to 1928 he served as president of Shudo Junior High School (now Shudo Junior High School and Shudo High School ). He passed away on June 3, 1928.​
