Vice Admiral Kondo Eijiro/近藤英次郎 海軍中将

Kondo Eijiro /近藤英次郎; September 12 , 1887 – December 27, 1955 ) was a Japanese naval officer. He held the rank of Vice Admiral and was a member of the House of Representatives .

Kondo Eijiro was born in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1908 and was commissioned as an ensign in 1910. During World War I, he was deployed to the Mediterranean as part of the Second Special Fleet. He graduated from the Naval War College in 1921. He was then stationed in the United States, and served as special service captain of the Notoro, captain of the Hōshō, commander of the Tateyama Naval Air Group, captain of the Akagi, captain of the Kaga, chief of staff of the Third Fleet, and commander of the Shanghai Naval Special Landing Force. After the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War, he led the 11th Squadron in the Yangtze River Upriver Operation, and participated in the Battle of Nanking and the Wuhan Operation.

After being placed in the reserves in 1939, he served as an advisor to the Toa Kaiun Kaisha Ltd.

In 1942, he ran in the 21st general election for the House of Representatives and was elected. On December 1, 1945, he resigned from the House of Representatives and was subsequently banned from holding public office .​
