Rank was also displayed by a system of braid bands around the cuffs of the tunic.
There was also a three-colored rank system with a cloth five-rayed device in one of three colors: yellow, white, and red. This symbol was worn on the left sleeve of the overcoat in a larger size and above the breast pocket of the tunic and on neck guards on the steel helmet in a smaller size. This simplified rank system was yellow for the lowest two ranks, white for the middle two ranks, and red for the highest two ranks.
