Awarded to Major General Sir Guy A.H. Beatty, K.B.E., C.B., C.S.I., C.M.G., D.S.O. (1870 - 1954). Beatty had one in the Indian Army glittering military career with deployments in Egypt, Iraq, India, Afghanistan, Persia and China. In World War I he acquired two Distinguished Service Orders (D.S.O.). In 1919 he was Major-General Malleson's right-hand man in Trans-Caspia. From 1927 to 1931 he served as Chief Military Advisor to the Indian State Forces.​
