Nikolai Nikolaevich Karepov /Николай Николаевич Карепов/ was born January 3, 1860 in an Orthodox family. Educated at the 2nd St. Petersburg real school.
He entered military service on September 1, 1877. Then he graduated from the 2nd Konstantinovsky Military School, from where he was released as a second lieutenant (08/08/1879) with enrollment in the army infantry and seconded to the Life Guards Pavlovsky Regiment with the rank of warrant officer of the guard (08/08/1879). Second lieutenant of the guard (08/30/1883). Lieutenant of the Guard (01/01/1885). Staff captain (08/30/1890). Captain (08/30/1894). He commanded a company and a battalion.
Colonel (Art. 12/06/1899). Participant of the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. Commander of the 145th Novocherkassk Infantry Regiment since July 25, 1904.
Major General (01/15/1909). Commander of the 1st Brigade of the 40th Infantry Division from January 15, 1909.
Participant of the First World War, took part in the campaign in East Prussia. Commander of the 30th Infantry Division from November 4, 1914. Lieutenant General (08.11.1914). On July 10, 1916, he was in the same rank and position.
After the October Revolution he served in the Red Army. Then he went over to the side of the VSYUR. Member of the White movement in southern Russia.
Later in exile in Yugoslavia.
He died in Kladovo (Serbia, Yugoslavia) on August 13 , 1926 .
He was awarded with the Order of St. George, 4th class (March 31, 1916) and the Golden Weapon (December 3, 1909). He also was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav, 2nd class (1902); St. Anne 2nd class with swords (1905); St. Vladimir 4th class with swords and a bow (1906); swords for the Order of St. Stanislaus, 2nd class (1906); St. Vladimir 3rd class (1912); St. Anne 1st class with swords (February 26,1915); St. Stanislav 1st class with swords (February 26,1915); St. Vladimir 2nd class with swords (March 18, 1916).
