From 1831 until 1839 the Order of St. Stanislav of the 2nd class was awarded to both Russian and foreign subjects with a breast star. In 1839 two divisions were created for the 2nd class of the Order of St. Stanislaus: a cross adorned with the Imperial crown and a cross without a crown; the breast star (in the 2nd class) awarded only to foreign citizens. Awarding of the Order of St. Stanislav with the Imperial Crown was abolished on February 14, 1874.
