The base marked with maker`k mark "WC" for William Clutton, date letter t for 1835, and "sun in splendour" (a fully drawn face surrounded by alternating straight and wavy rays) /gold hallmark that was introduced on May 29, 1816, as an occasional extra standard mark struck on 22-carat gold items/.
