Order of the Garter awarded by William IV to his Nephew, Prince George of Cambridge on his appointment to the Order in 1835

Specimen of superb workmanship from the collection of Albion Art Jewellery Institute.

Gold, cameo, enamel.
Size 91 x 61 mm.

The cameo is signed "Pistrucci". The base marked with maker`k mark "WC" for William Clutton, date letter t for 1835, and "sun in splendour" (a fully drawn face surrounded by alternating straight and wavy rays) /gold hallmark that was introduced on May 29, 1816, as an occasional extra standard mark struck on 22-carat gold items/.
