Marked with Moscow district assay office silver hallmark in an oval shield [delta, female head in a kokoshnik, to the right, 84] from 1908+ time period and maker's mark "ДК/DK" for Дмитрий Кучкин/Dmitry Kuchkinin.
Medal was awarded to an individual who "risked their own life to save another". If a recipient already has been awarded the medal but does another deed to save another life they may receive a bow to the ribbon. The obverse inscription translates to "By the Grace of God Nicholas I Emperor and Autocrat of all Russia" and the reverse translates to "За спасение погибавших/For Life Saving".
