Hǎiguāng Medal /海光獎章/ was established on July 19, 1951 as the highest naval medal issued by the ROC. It is awarded to those who have made contributions in command or directly participated in combat, who have demonstrated special acts of heroism or who have been wounded in combat. Ray of light coming from the lighthouse symbolize the brilliant military exploits of ROC Navy. Star devices (attached to the ribbon) denote additional awards of the same medal.
