鎮海海軍航空隊 - Jinhae Naval Air Corps

Based at the Jinhae Port, which wass opened in 1916, in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, the Corps was established on October 1, 1936 at a seaplane base to provide air defense for the coastal areas of the Korean Peninsula. Until the outbreak of the Pacific War, it was a purely seaplane reconnaissance squadron, but with the outbreak of the war, a carrier-based attack aircraft squadron was also established and participated in patrols of American submarine forces invading the Yellow Sea.

On December 15, 1944 Jinhae Naval Air Corps was reorganized and incorporated into the 951st Air Group. It was engaged in patrols in the Tsushima Strait and Yellow Sea areas, but its combat capabilities had declined to the point that it could no longer participate in the large-scale anti-submarine sweep operations conducted in the same areas by the 901st Naval Air Group and the 951st Air Group. The 951st Air Group was eventually withdrawn to the mainland, and its missions of escorting convoys across the Tsushima Strait and patrols from the continent were eventually taken over by detachments from the 901st Air Group, and the reconnaissance units stationed there since the time of the Chinhae Air Group naturally disappeared.

After the war, the Jinhae seaplane base became the most important base, playing a central role in the Korean Navy.
