Fake Orders of St. Alexander made by Rothe, Wien

Post-war fakes a.k.a. "collector's copies".

Breast star without swords.

Silver, gilt, enamel.
Size 88 mm.

Standard set (for post-war Rothe-made fakes) of marks: "C•F•Rothe", "Wien" and two fake Wien assay office marks "A with a dot below" /that were used during 1866-1872 time period for 900 silver/.

Base marked with quite eccentric set of fake marks: fake "FR inside small elongated hex" that is mimicking early Rothe & Neffe workshop mark, fake Wien assay office silver hallmark "3 Greyhound Head A" /this type of "Windhundkopf" silver hallmark was used for small items of 800 silver fineness between 1872 and 1922/ and fake Wien assay office mark "A with a dot below" /that was used during 1866-1872 time period for 900 silver/.

Pin marked with even more crazy set of fake marks: two fake Wien assay office "A" marks /that were used during 1866-1872 time period time period for 950 silver/ one of which overstamped with a Dutch import hallmark "script-letter V" /duty mark for imported gold and silver objects that was used between 1906 and 1953, where V stands for the Dutch word "Vreemd" = "foreign", this mark gives no guarantee of standard of fineness and was intended for imported objects only/ and partly readable phantasy (?) mark "AKA" (?).​

Pin marked with two partly readable fake Wien assay office marks "A" that were used during 1866-1872 time period.

Base marked with fake "FR inside rhombus" mark that is mimicking early Rothe & Neffe workshop mark /alternatively it could mimic silver hallmark that was used during 1866-1872 time period for 750 silver/ and fake Wien assay office silver hallmark "3 Greyhound Head A" /this type of "Windhundkopf" silver hallmark was used for small items of 800 silver fineness between 1872 and 1922/.

 

This time some shy soul polished all "original" Rothe marks and stamped pin with a fake "•G•A•S•" mark.

Fake breast star with swords but this time with swords through the central medallion.

Size 87 mm.
Weight 70 g.

Well-known set of "original" Rothe marks. Ring and pin also marked with a French "swan" /poinçon de cygne/ mark that was applied to silver objects imported into France from countries without customs agreements /or silver objects of unknown origin/.

 

Fake breast star without swords but with diamonds (allegedly 435 diamonds for a total of 1.71 ct) that were added to the "base model" by some enterprising person.

This stunning rarity "belonged to none other than the H.M. Ferdinand I, Tsar of Bulgaria". I kid you not! Looks like he was very penny-wise Tsar.
