Dubious piece that could belong to this "family" https://asiamedals.info/threads/blass-fake-breast-stars-combined-with-the-order-of-the-garter.25815/
Gold, agate, enamel.
Size 74.6 x 44.4 mm.
Weight 54.4 g.
Buckle is an obvious modern restoration (back in 1977 it was missing).
Same badge back in 1977.
Sankt Georgs-Orden sash.
Naturally "manufacture by an unidentifiable jeweler". Recently it was sold as the "Medallion of Royal Hanoverian Order of St. George combined with the Most Noble Order of the Garter". Wild description (to put it mildly), since the only thing that has anything do with the Hanoverian Order of St. George/Sankt Georgs-Orden is a sash. Why seller called it "Hanoverian Order of St. George combined with the Most Noble Order of the Garter" is a mystery.
Originally this badge surfaced on the antiquarian market in 1977 as the Lesser George that allegedly was privately-comissioned around 1820 and belonged to the Granville Leveson-Gower, 2nd Earl Granville (11 May 1815 – 31 March 1891) who was created a knight of the Garter in 1867.
