Highly unusual collar with an even more unusual four armed "Maltese Asterisk" cross. Could be a Saint Andrew masonic lodge insignia. He presented a large collection of Asian arms and Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquities and playing-cards to the British museum in 1878, the same year he sold a number of Oceanian objects to the BM; cousin of Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick (q.v.) whose collection he inherited and later sold/.
