Ring entered the Hermitage collection in 1908. Acquired from Vera Konstantinovna, the youngest daughter of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich and Alexandra Iosifovna, granddaughter of Emperor Nicholas I. She was brought up at the court of Queen Olga Nikolaevna of Württemberg. Spouse of Duke Eugene of Württemberg. She lived most of her life in Stuttgart, where she was involved in charity work.​
