安宅町 - Ataka Town /It was estblished in 1899 and was located in the western part of present-day Komatsu City in Ishikawa Prefecture facing the Sea of Japan, near the mouth of the Kakehashi River. Developed around Ataka Port, the central settlement was originally located on the east bank of the Kakehashi River. On December 1, 1940 the towns of Komatsu, Ataka, Awazu, Itatsu, Shirae, Naeshiro, Maki and Miyuki in Nomi County were merged to form the city of Komatsu/
