Badge was issued to IJA Shipping Command [a.k.a. IJA Shipping Force see https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/船舶司令部] officers and officer cadets.
Army Shipping Command included tansport units (in particular, submarine transports and high speed transport units), ship anti-aircraft units, engineer units, air force units (1st independent flight company and 2nd shipping anti-submarine flight company equipped with autogyros), etc.

Badge was worn above the right uniform pocket.
