4th class Rising Sun order document issued in 1878 to French State Council Auditor Charles Vergé

Very early document /Rising Sun order No.74 issued to a foreigner/ issued on December 14, 1878 to Charles Vergé who was State Council Auditor and Chief Secretary of the Directorate of Foreign Sections of the 1878 Universal Exposition of Paris. Hand-signed by Emperor Meiji.

"法國博覧會事務長シウエルゼー/Secretary General of the French Exposition Shiueruzē (quite eccentric transcription of Charles Vergé)".
