On November 7, 1831 after the suppression of the Polish uprising of 1830–1831 Emperor Nicholas I ordered that officers and generals be given out “a badge of distinction belonging to the Kingdom of Poland for military merit” to officers and generals. 4th class Virtuti Militari orders was awarded to company officers /subaltern officers/. During 1831-1835 Immanuel Pannasch workshop manufactured 5 219 4th class crosses.
