Chojiro Kuriyama (栗山長次郎; September 7, 1896 - July 8, 1971) was a journalist, businessman and politician /,ember of the House of Representatives/. He was born in Tokyo as Seijiro Kuriyama's eldest son. In 1917 he graduated from Aoyama Normal School. He then studied in the United States and graduated from the University of Utah in 1923. He also studied political science and economics at Harvard University Graduate School . He joined the Mainichi Shimbun and served as a political reporter, foreign correspondent, New York bureau chief, director of the company's engineering department, director of the company's operations department, and president of the newspaper's transportation services. Later he served as an auditor of Sanyo Shokai and a director of Tosho Printing.
He ran for the 22nd House of Representatives general election in April 1946 from Tokyo's 2nd Ward as an official endorser of the Japan Liberal Party and was elected for the first time. He subsequently ran for office in Tokyo's 7th Ward and was re-elected until the 25th general election, and served as a member of the House of Representatives for four consecutive terms. During this time, he served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in the second Yoshida Cabinet, Chairman of the Special Committee on Establishment of Tourism Promotion Policy in the House of Representatives, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Director of Foreign Affairs of the Liberal Party of Japan Political Research Committee, Director of External Relations of the Japan Liberal Party, and General Secretary of the Democratic Liberal Party. After that he unsuccessfully ran for office in the 26th and 27th general elections.
