Hugo Friedrich Joseph Karl von Wasielewski (December 11, 1853; April 21, 1936 Potsdam) was a son of the Prussian colonel Carl Heinrich von Wasielewski (1811–1873) and his wife Mathilde, née Roepell (1831–1866). His younger brother was the future Prussian major general Julius von Wasielewski (1857–1938).

Wasielewski attended the cadet corps from 1871 and was for a time page to Crown Princess Victoria. On April 28, 1872, he was assigned as a second lieutenant to the East Prussian Fusilier Regiment No. 33 of the Prussian Army in Danzig. From October 1876 he was assigned to the Marienburg district command for three years as an adjutant and to the military gymnasium in 1880/81. On March 22, 1881, Wasielewski was transferred to the newly established Infantry Regiment No. 128. He worked as a regimental adjutant, was promoted to prime lieutenant in mid-November 1881 and completed the War Academy in Berlin for three years from October 1883 . When he was promoted to captain, he became company commander on December 13, 1888, until he was transferred to the Army General Staff on January 16, 1892 and was transferred to the General Staff of the 28th Division. Promoted to major at the end of July 1894 , he resigned on October 18, 1895 when he was appointed commander of the III. Battalion in the 4th Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 51 in Brieg returned to military service.

From February 16, 1899 he served as commander of the Pomeranian Jaeger Battalion No. 2 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in mid-December 1900. On March 22, 1903, Wasielewski became colonel and commander of the Lower Rhine Fusilier Regiment No. 39 in Düsseldorf. He was commissioned to lead the 25th Infantry Brigade on April 14, 1907 and was promoted to major general on May 18 of the same year and appointed brigade commander.

After the outbreak of the First World War, Wasielewski was reassigned as a zD officer and at the end of December 1914 became commander of the newly formed 83rd Infantry Brigade. He was then commander of the 46th Reserve Division from May 10, 1915. His mobilization provision was repealed on June 18, 1918.

His appointment as General of Infantry took place on May 29, 1921.​
