German Red Cross Honor Decoration /Ehrenzeichen des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes/ was founded on April 28, 1922, replaced by the Social Welfare Decoration /Ehrenzeichen für deutsche Volkspflege/ in 1939 and re-founded in its present form on 8 May 1953. Between 1924 and 1934 it was awarded by the President of the German Red Cross Society in two classes:
Red Cross Honor Decoration 1st class cross/Ehrenzeichen des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes I. Klasse /bronze gilded cross on neck ribbon/
Red Cross Honor Decoration 2nd class cross/Ehrenzeichen des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes II. Klasse /bronze gilded cross on breast ribbon or bow/
Crosses were manufactured by Godet & Sohn, Berlin.
