Fukuda Masataro /福田雅太郎/ (July 7, 1866 (May 25, 1866) – June 1, 1932) was born in Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture as the second son of Ichibei Fukuda. After studying at Omura Junior High School and Yuhi Gakusha he graduated from the Imperial Japanese Army Academy (ninth class) in July 1887 and was commissioned as an infantry second lieutenant and assigned to the 3rd Infantry Regiment. In November 1893 he graduated from the Army War College (9th class). During the Sino-Japanese War he went to war as an adjutant in the 1st Division After the war he was studying in Germany. Member of the General Staff (leader of the mobilization team), concurrently serving as an instructor at the Imperial Army, concurrently serving as Adjutant to Field Marshal Iwao Oyama and attached to the Austrian legation. During Russo-Japanese War he served as a staff officer of the 1st Army (chief of operations).
