Cross was transferred to the State Historical Museum in 1930 from the Military Historical Museum. In the inventory of the Military Historical Museum, among the awards transferred from the State Museum Fund in 1925, there are seven awards that belonged to the Buhlers. Among them was the cross of St. Vladimir of the 1st class on a cross-shoulder ribbon with a note: "Suvorov personally put this cross upon A.Y. Buhler/Суворовъ лично надел этот крест на А.Я. Бюлера". Bantysh-Kamensky's book "Biographies of Russian Generalissimos and Field Marshals" tells that just two weeks before Suvorov's death, Karl Yakovlevich Buhler came to him with a request to receive the Bavarian Order of the Golden Lion from the hands of the Generalissimo himself. Suvorov agreed. The presence in the inventory of the Military Historical Museum next to the sign of St. Vladimir of the Bavarian Order "on a blue ribbon" confirms this story. Obviously this order of St. Vladimir 1st class belongs to the end of the 18th century. Perhaps the cross really belonged to Suvorov himself and he could have given it to Baron Andrei Yakovlevich Buhler as a gift. But to which Bühler? Andrei Yakovlevich (cavalier of the 4th class of the Order of St. Vladimir) or his brother Karl Yakovlevich (cavalier of the 2nd class of the Order of St. Vladimir)?
