The 50th Infantry Regiment /Hōhei Daigoju Rentai/ was one of the regiments of the Imperial Japanese Army was known as a mountain troops regiment due to its tradition of mountaineering training.

1905 March 31 - Order of organization issued. Regimental headquarters and 2nd Battalion are organized in Sendai, 1st Battalion in Tokyo, and 3rd Battalion in Muramatsu.

1905 April 15th - Receiving the military flag

1905 July 2 - Sent to Sakhalin , and after the peace treaty ( Treaty of Portsmouth ) temporarily took charge of the defense of Taiwan.

1906 April - Dispatched to Korea

1908 - Return


1908 November 3 - Transferred to Matsumoto and reassigned from the Independent 13th Division to the 13th Division.

1913 - Stationed in southern Manchuria, and later dispatched to Siberia.

1927 August - Stationed in Manchuria, stationed in Liushutun, Kwantung

1928 May - Dispatched to Shandong

1929 April - Return

1931 - Deployed to the Manchurian Incident

May 1934 - Return

1937 August 14 - Mobilization order issued, landing at Tanggu, traveling by rail to Baoding, and operations in various parts of North China

1938 - Participated in the Battle of Xuzhou

1939 December 27 - Return

1941 April 1 - Transferred from the 14th Division to the 29th Division

1941 April 16 - Transferred from Matsumoto to Liaoyang , Manchuria

1944 February 10 - Decided to divert to the Central Pacific, proceeded to Busan, and headed to Saipan via Ujina

1944 March 15 - Guards the island of Tinian

1944 July 24 - American troops land (Battle of Tinian)

1944 August 2 - The remaining 1,000 soldiers under the regiment command launch a final attack and die in battle.
