Russian-made privately commissioned breast star.

Marked with French import silver mark hare/rabbit head

that was usually used for silver items which has been exported from France tax-free and later re-imported with the payment of tax.

 

Pierre-Louis-Auguste Ferron, Count de La Ferrone /French: Pierre-Louis-Auguste Ferron, comte de La Ferronnays; December 4, 1777, Saint-Malo - April 24, 1842/ Rome) - French general, politician and diplomat, minister Foreign Affairs of France (1828-1829).

In July 1819 Pierre-Louis-Auguste Ferron was sent as ambassador to Russia. Accompanied Emperor Alexander at congresses in Troppau (1820), Laibach (1821) and Verona (1822). Pushed for intervention in Spain; his pro-Russian stance drew the enmity of Metternich. He stayed in Russia until 1827. He was on friendly terms with Emperor Nicholas I whom he met back in 1812. As part of the diplomatic corps, he attended the coronation of Nicholas I.

He was awarded with the Order of St.Andrew on August 22 (September 3), 1826.

 

His French-made diamond-cut breast star made by Lavoignat et Lorrain /Lavoignat & Lorrain/ workshop. Louis Beaugeois quoted in the Parisian Bazaar of 1822-1823, had a Claude-Prosper Lavoignat and Dominique Lorrain took over a jewelry and goldsmith's workshop at No. 2 rue de la Paix in Paris from the previous owner Louis Beaugeois on May 1, 1827. Workshop was liquidated on May 1, 1830.

Count Auguste Ferron de La Ferronnays was awarded with order of the Rue Crown /Hausorden der Rautenkrone/ (also known as order of the Crown of Saxony or Order of the Crown of Rue) somewhere around 1826/1827 .
