Nikolai Alekseevich Tuchkov /Russian: Николай Алексеевич Тучков; April 16 [27], 1765 - October 30 [ November 11 ], 1812/ lieutenant general of the Russian army, commander of the infantry corps, the eldest of four brothers who participated in the Patriotic War of 1812. Just before the start of the Patriotic War of 1812 he took command of the 3rd Infantry Corps of the 1st Western Army of Barclay de Tolly which together with the 4th Corps, participated in the battle near Ostrovna, as well as in the battles near Smolensk on August 17 and near Lubino, where on August 19, together with Württemberg, he defeated Michel Ney and near the village of Utitsy, blocking the Old Smolensk road at the Borodino position. On August 26 during the battle for Utitsky Kurgan a (key height) he led the counterattack of the Pavlovsky Grenadier Regimenton and received a severe bullet wound in the chest. He was sent to Mozhaisk for treatment but died three weeks later in Yaroslavl. He was buried in the Tolga Monastery.​
